How Holiday Leftovers Can Help Your Business

by George

First, I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a great holiday.

Second, do you have a lot of leftovers from the holiday? Are you making turkey sandwiches, turkey casserole, and putting turkey in with your Hamburger Helper? (Ok, the last one was Chicken Helper and yes, it does taste good; it was the Asian Chicken Helper.)

While I was making a turkey sandwich the other day, I realized how holiday leftovers could teach us something about our businesses.

Now just go with me on this one.

After a while, the same leftovers lose their flavor and you just get sick of them, right?

This is much like a business that uses the same ideas, content or pitches over and over again. Do you wonder why your business is not bringing in customers, your traffic is down on your web site or the phone calls die down?

It could be that you’re using the same old business leftovers.

After awhile, your customers are going to get tired of seeing and hearing the same old thing. The flavor will be gone and they will want to get rid of those same old leftovers.

When they are sick of the leftovers, they will go in search of someone new that will entertain their business tastes.

The exception to this are those that have many years of time and effort into putting together a business that has it’s own original formula – even big businesses with the right formula still need to find new ways to reach customers.

What do you do to add that sizzle?

Try something new; something different; try something no one has tried before. Now I am not saying to go out and tell everyone you are going to freeze yourself in a block of ice to get more customers, but do some research; find your target customer; develop something to tickle their taste buds and make them a raving fan of your business.

A Few Items to Add to the Menu

Move Past Leftovers

Remember, holiday leftovers only last so long in your refrigerator; your business leftovers are the same way.  After a while, they will start to grow that green fuzz and no one wants to eat those types of leftovers.

Keep things fresh and interesting to see your business grow and your customers will keep ordering from your menu of products and services.

How do you keep things fresh?
